FOOD FOR HEROES​

VSSN’S FOOD for HEROES program purpose is to leverage resources within the local community to end and/or prevent hunger and hardship among transitioning service members, veterans and their families.
Volunteers play an important part in the Food for Heroes program as they coordinate partnerships with local groceries who provide special food vouchers or gift cards to fill the gap or need.
Donors help by donating funds OR gift cards which are used towards food and toiletry vouchers for our hereoes during the quite and holiday season
FOOD FOR HEROES EXTENDED
Thanks to the support of individual, corporate schools, and organizational donors… VSSN is able to extend our giving to provide toiletries and other essential items to thousands of service members (present and past) and their families
VSSN's volunteers coordinate several drives through high schools, colleges/universities, special events, business, and organizations to meet help meet the need.
VSSN provides food vouchers or toiletry bundles to veteran and/or military families
WARRIOR STAY​
​
Warrior Stay project provides emergency stays for veteran and military families who hit a hardship and find themselves and/or their families needing temporary hotel stays up to 3 days. Families must have a housing plan in place.
Vouchers are given to the family once a support organizations only has established a housing plan with the family. Veteran or military families must show active housing plan prior to receiving a voucher.
Healing Homes
Communities
The mission of VSSN's Healing Homes Communities is to build, rehab or become supportive partners in a home where service connected families are able to heal and call home meanwhile while preventing or decreasing present or risk of..... homelessness, hardship and/or loss of life.
OUTREACH & SPECIAL EVENTS PROJECTS
Y PROGRAM
The mission of the "Y" program is to facilitate youth connections to peer support, and volunteer service activities for children/youth of veterans, service members and any youth who has the heart to support local heroes.
What Can I Do Under the Y Program?

Join a VSSN Club at a local High School or start new one learn more

Join the USMC Dance Project as a dancer, set designer, makeup artist, music engineer, choreographer, etc learn more (directing you to the teams' webpage)

Join the Y program as an event volunteer or volunteer at any of VSSN's Holistic Centers or Vet Centers learn more

Join the Pencils & Pens and explore education from a global perspective from ages 14 through adults. Many of our educational partners offer on-campus classes with college credit at a discounted price with housing options.

"Get Hired" (a skill development and explorations with externships) ages 16-adult

Student to Student Tutoring as a tutor or a peer. This program is for any person ages 4-adult who is enrolled in a school/college/vocational program. learn more

VSSN's Bid-Point networking events are simple....we bring together the veteran, female or service connected seller to the potential or requested buyer! Veteran and female-owned businesses range from small businesses to multinationals across industries as diverse as construction, health, oil and gas, energy, information technology, security/ defense, finance, hospitality, telecommunications, products and other services.
